1. WHAT IS "PRANAYAMA PRESS"?
The main purpose of "Pranayama Press" is educational. This issue
focuses on New Beginnings and Flexibility to Change.
LAST MONTH’S ISSUE: DID YOU MISS IT?
If you missed the February issue with the article about our
Visitors from Krygyzstan, please see it on our website:

-----------------------------------------------------------------
2. INSPIRATIONAL QUOTES WITH SIMILARITIES:
Jesus:
“You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”
(John 8.32)
Buddha:
“One who acts on truth is happy in this world and beyond.”
(Dhammapada 13.2)
The truth only happens in the moment. All else is filtered memory
or projected expectations.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
3. WHEN WE ARE IN THE MOMENT, EACH MOMENT IS NEW:
Spring is a time of new beginnings. In “yoga mind”, each moment
is a new beginning. Each moment is fresh.
“Be like a child and enter the Kingdom of Heaven.” (paraphrase)
I interpret this to mean “be in the present moment like a child
without filters or expectations, and then you can find happiness.
At a certain age, children are resilient and easily move from one
experience to the other. Children live more fully in the present.
They are not analyzing or identifying with the past or afraid of
the future. They are not stuck in habits. Like their flexible
bodies, their minds are open as well.
“Yoga mind” is being in the moment of “now”. You can practice
this through a formal yoga pose, by trying not to compare
yourself to others or to “how it used to be”. You can practice
it through meditation just focusing on the breath. But you can
also do this without a formal practice. At work or at home,
practice letting go of worries, comparative criticism, blame.
Embrace the moment, whatever is happening, and still accept
yourself if you cannot.
When we live through our expectations or images of what we think
we should be like, we are either holding onto the filtered memory
of the past or projecting into the future. Only the present is
reality.
“Living in the moment” and experiencing life fully in direct
relationship to it, brings us into a state of contentment,
even bliss, thereby called “Heaven”.
When we are in the moment, no moment is lost.

4. SPRING IS MAGNIFICAT TEEN YOGA TIME:
Harriet Russell (Bhumi) and Bhumi’s Yoga teachers Mary Ellen
Jewett, Maryanne Jage, and Mary Brennan Magnificat have launched
the 11th year of Magnificat High School teen yoga.
These young women learn not only yoga poses for better health,
prevention of sports injuries, strengthening the immune system,
hormonal balance, and clarity of mind, but much more.
They make affirmations about themselves. They learn to quiet the
mind. They learn how diet affects their energy; how to take
responsibility for their own responses to stress; and how not to
blame outside circumstances or peers, teachers, parents for their
own actions or attitudes.
Just like Spring, they get refreshed, relaxed, and renewed and
blossom to a fuller potential with awareness.
Adult Yoga Classes offer this holistic approach as well.
